Social media posts claim that hospitals and cemeteries have become overcrowded due to the outbreak of multiple viruses – HMPV, influenza A, Mycoplasma pneumoniae and COVID-19.

What did WHO say about HMPV?
However, no reliable source has confirmed these claims. Chinese health officials and the World Health Organization (WHO) have not reported any new epidemics or issued any emergency warnings. WHO has not declared any health crisis related to HMPV.
The most serious symptom of human metapneumovirus (HMPV) is respiratory problems, according to the American Lung Association. In the year 2001, researchers from Netherlands were the first to find out about this flu. Besides, it was also said that it spreads easily from one person to another. The disease can also spread through inhalation, coughing or sneezing, or by touching toys or door handles or contaminated surfaces.
In the United States the HMPV virus spreads rapidly during the winter and spring months. Due to this there is difficulty in breathing. Such as the initial symptoms of respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) and flu.
Symptoms of Human Metapneumovirus (HMPV)
These include cough, fever, runny or stuffy nose, and sore throat. Some individuals may also experience wheezing and shortness of breath (dyspnea).

How does this flu spread?
Children, the elderly, and individuals with weakened immunity are at highest risk of HMPV infection.
